bio
Anne was born in Washington, DC. Quiet summers on Ocracoke Island, NC nurtured a lifelong interest in the natural world. Anne studied printmaking at Carleton College, and design at the University of Minnesota. She is a member of both the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
Anne won First Place in the SCBWI 2008 Magazine Merit Competition - Illustration Category for her plover illustrations in Wildlife in North Carolina. She illustrates and writes for this magazine regularly, and creates the monthly nature activity in the children's section, WILD Notebook.
In 2007, Portal Press published The Sheltering Cedar, a picture book written and illustrated by Anne. The story is set on Ocracoke.
Anne's artwork is featured in environmental education publications and exhibits throughout North Carolina. She enjoys sharing her love of art and nature.
